What is Uniquely Cook Islands?
Uniquely Cook Islands is a national certification program that protects and celebrates Cook Islands identity. It helps customers, partners, and communities easily recognise authentic Cook Islands connections in products and services both at home and overseas.
The program is administered by the Business Trade & Investment Board (BTIB), governed by a Governance Board elected by the members, and supported by cultural leaders, local businesses, and diaspora communities.
The Mark and Tokens
- The Mark shows that a business, maker, or seller is an accredited member of the program.
- Tokens show the type of connection a product or service has to the Cook Islands.
There are three Tokens:
- Taʻunga – Cultural protection & preservation
- Ito Manava – Local production & innovation
- Vaka – Overseas / diaspora connection
Each Token has equal value. The difference is in the pathway of connection.
